Best Dating Apps
Updated:

“Back in my day we actually had to go up to women to meet them” – your dad, probably.

Thanks to technology, now you can “e-meet” hundreds or thousands of potential suitors on dating apps.

In fact it’s becoming almost the norm, where 12% of serious relationships in the US are from meeting online. And since Tinder started the revolution in 2012 it’s grown into a $5 Billion per year industry.

As a user of dating apps myself, I wanted to find which one my time would be best spent on. I read reviews and forums, asked friends, and tried out the most popular ones. Here is our list of the best dating apps in 2024:

7 Best Dating Apps in 2024

1. Hinge

Like: Hinge’s design is the best among dating apps. They also give thoughtful prompts to get conversations started. And don’t have the amount of spam accounts like other dating apps (cough cough tinder).

Don’t Like: Hinge is getting expensive as it’s gotten more popular. It’s grown 10x since 2022, and it’s price has risen because of it.

Price: Free tier, then $32.99 / month

2. Bumble

Like: Great for women that like to take charge. The app enforces that women message first. This can weed out shy women and insecure guys – take that as you will.

They also have a Bumble BFF feature for making friends. I used this while traveling through Australia and can attest that it’s a great way to meet people.

Don’t Like: Likes expire within 24 hours. So if you’re out backpacking through Western Europe you could miss out on a match. You can, of course, fork over some cash to chat late.

Price: Free tier, then $22.49 / month

3. Eharmony

Like: eHarmony makes our list on best dating apps, although mostly used on a website. EHarmony is great for people looking for serious dating that could lead to marriage. Before finding matches you fill out a long questionnaire so the website can get to know you. It then uses that data to find your best match.

Don’t Like: The other side of the coin is the sign-up process can feel long. But you can’t rush love, right?

Price: Free tier, and then $65.90 / month

4. Happn

Like: Happn gives you the best chance of catching some “serendipity”. You got a smile from that person across the cafe? But too nervous to go over and break the ice? Lucky for you this app will show you potential matches you crossed paths with.

Don’t Like: In order for the app to know who you’ve crossed paths with you have to keep location preferences always on. For me I turn this off for all apps, so it was a deal breaker. But if it isn’t for you then this app is a great option.

Price: Free tier, and then $24.99 / month

5. Okcupid

Like: OkCupid is like a happy medium between Hinge and eHarmony. You have in depth profiles, and get a “match %” to see how good of a match with a person you are.

Don’t Like: The user interface and user experience could be improved. There are annoying ads that show up while using, but are removed if you pay.

Price: Free tier, and then $34.99 / month

6. Coffee meets bagel

Like: Did you know this app turned down $30 Million from Mark Cuban? The highly-valued app is great thanks to giving high quality, curated matches each day. So less mindless swiping like other apps.

Don’t Like: The app can get complicated. You have things like flowers, likes, coffee beans, bagels … oh my.

Price: Free tier, then for more features starts at $9 / month

7. Tinder

Like: Ahh Tinder. The most recognizable name in the space. Due to that fact they have one of the largest user bases. Which means more potential matches. It’s also great for people looking for casual dating.

Don’t Like: Many people complain of fake profiles (see “The Tinder Swindler” on Netflix). It’s less geared towards people looking for serious, long term relationships.

Price: Free tier, then $14.99 / month

Honorable mentions: niche dating apps

Not included on this list are more niche dating apps. There’s an endless amount, but here are some popular ones:

❥ Grindr – Gay men

❥ Her – Queer women

❥ Raya – Influencers

❥ BLK – Black community

❥ Christian Mingle – Christians

❥ The League – Rich people
